Our Wedding

We hope to see you there.

The Wedding

The beautiful wedding location.

The beautiful wedding location.

Jenna and Kenton have yet to meet with the resort or speak with the wedding coordinator, so many details are yet to be hashed out. However, unless circumstances prevent it, the following is a rough outline of what to expect on the wedding day:

  • Meet for wedding activities hosted by the bride and groom's families at approximately 3:30 PM.
  • Ceremony to begin on the beach pier shown above, at approximately 4:30 PM.
  • Cocktail hour in lounge, again hosted by bride and groom's families, at approximately 5:30-6:00 PM.
  • Supper to begin at approximately 7:30 PM lasting until 9:30 PM.
  • Dance beginning at 9:30-10:00 PM

As Jenna and Kenton receive more specific details about the wedding location, timing, and activities, they will update this page. You may also expect a full itinerary prior to departing for your trip, and upon arrival, so you can plan your vacation accordingly. We hope this trip is as relaxing for you as it is for us, and we plan to provide the information you need to do so.

The Deposit and Payment

As the email Jenna and Kenton recently sent out indicates, some of the information regarding booking has changed. The deposit is due as soon as possible, and has been reduced to $50. The flight and hotel are booked together, as a package, and the flight times and gate cities are listed below.

Jenna and Kenton have also changed to (a more competent) travel agent, whose name is Shal Singh. Shal's business hours and contact information is provided below. She will ensure you are on the appropriate flight, at the appropriate time, and has found very competitive rates for travel.

Should any circumstances change, Jenna and Kenton will update this page with further information.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

As some guests may not have travelled abroad before, Jenna and Kenton wanted to provide a brief description of what you can expect from your trip to Mexico.

The entry process for Mexico starts on the airplane. Flight attendants will often distribute tourist card paperwork and customs declaration forms ahead of time, so it may be useful to bring a pen on your flight. This "tourist card" takes the place of an actual visa, as a visa is not required for short tourist stays in Mexico. We recommend filling out this form on the plane completely, as filling it out in line can often lead to a login wait.

Customs forms are similar, but instead ask about the types of things you are bringing into the country. Personal items are duty-free; that is you will not have to pay a tax to bring them into Mexico. You may also bring up to $300 (three hundred dollars) worth of gifts for friends and relatives, but you must be prepared to show the true worth of these gifts to officials if requested.

Once you deplane and make your way to the airport (many flights deplane outside and a bus is used to transport passengers to the building), you will likely find yourself standing in a long, hot line with your flight mates. You may experience a long, uncomfortable wait on either the tarmac or in the Cancun airport; shorts and appropriate clothing is recommended.

IMMIGRATION

Passengers are queued first at immigration, with instructions and signage displayed bilingually. You will approach an immigration official generally stationed in some kind of booth who will need to view your passport and tourist card. At times, you may be asked questions such as who you are visiting and why, what city are you travelling to, or what do you plan to do in Mexico? You may also be asked about your citizenry and other related questions.

CUSTOMS

Upon passing through immigration, you are then queued to baggage, and finally to customs. Plan on handling your bags and luggage while waiting for customs officials to process other passengers.

An interesting and somewhat fun aspect of Mexican customs is the red light/green light signal within the customs area. Each passenger must press a large button that will light up either a red light or green light. A red light means you will need to place your luggage on a table to be unzipped and searched. The screener is looking for contraband, but also for items that you failed to declare on your customs paper or items that you are planning to sell.

TRANSFER

The Excellence Cancun Riviera is approximately 25 minutes from the Cancun Airport, by bus. When you arrive at the airport, make it through the oddly exciting red light/green light customs system, and walk toward the exits, you will be bombarded with tiny men holding funny signs. Do not speak to them.

With your package, a transfer, with Air Transat, will be arranged for you. Find the Air Transat Vacations booth or sign, give them your name, and they will take your baggage and lead you to the bus.
